Koh Samet offers a selection of budget-friendly accommodations, including a few hostels and guesthouses, providing affordable stays for travelers exploring the island. These options often present opportunities to connect with other guests, particularly in common areas or through organized activities, making them suitable for those seeking a social atmosphere while on a budget.
1. The Cocoon Hostel
Type: Hostel
Upon arrival, I found The Cocoon Hostel to be a welcoming spot, ideal for backpackers seeking both comfort and social interaction. The beds were notably comfortable, featuring privacy curtains, personal lights, and power outlets for convenience. It felt like a well-organized space, consistently clean, with free cereals and coffee available in the communal areas. The staff were exceptionally friendly and always ready to assist. Its location is excellent, just a short walk from the pier and close to Sai Kaew Beach, making it easy to access the island's main attractions and nightlife. This hostel fosters a relaxed environment where meeting fellow travelers comes naturally.
2. Stay Samed
Type: Hostel
My experience at Stay Samed highlighted its modern and clean design, providing a comfortable stay for budget travelers. The dormitory rooms came with air-conditioning and en-suite hot shower rooms, which was a definite plus. While it offers a cafe on-site for all-day breakfast and coffee, the social atmosphere felt more subdued compared to other hostels. However, the staff were consistently friendly and helpful, contributing to a pleasant and safe environment. Its location is very convenient, just a short walk to Sai Kaew Beach and the main high street with restaurants and shops. This is a solid choice for those prioritizing cleanliness, comfort, and a good location.
