Samut Songkhram, also known as Mae Klong, features a train station (Mae Klong Station) located near its famous railway market and a central bus terminal for regional connections.

Train:

Traveling by train involves a multi-leg journey from Bangkok's Wongwian Yai Station. First, take a train to Mahachai Station (approximately 1 hour, 10 THB). From there, cross the Tha Chin River by a short ferry ride (3 THB) to Ban Laem Pier. A second train from Ban Laem Station then takes you to Mae Klong (Samut Songkhram) Station (approximately 1 hour, 10 THB). The total travel time is around 2 hours and 15 minutes, not including transfer times. Trains depart from Wongwian Yai approximately every 45 minutes, while trains to Mae Klong depart Ban Laem four times daily.

Minivan:

Minivans offer a direct and convenient route. They typically depart from Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai) or the Chatuchak Van Terminal (opposite Mo Chit). The journey usually takes between 1 hour 20 minutes and 2 hours, with fares ranging from 100 THB to 350 THB. Be aware that luggage space can be limited.

Bus:

Buses also operate from Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal to Samut Songkhram. Travel times can be as quick as 1 hour, with an average duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. While some services are direct, others may involve a transfer via Samut Sakhon, extending the trip to about 2 hours 39 minutes. Fares for public buses are generally affordable, though some private services may be higher.

Taxi/Private Car:

For a direct and faster journey, a taxi or private car is an option. The drive from Bangkok to Samut Songkhram typically takes about 1 hour to 1 hour 6 minutes. Costs for a private taxi generally range from approximately $37 to $64 USD.
