1. Khao Yai National Park
One of Thailand's largest and oldest national parks, this UNESCO World Heritage site presents a landscape of dense forests, rolling hills, and majestic waterfalls like Haew Suwat and Haew Narok. Visitors can embark on various hiking trails, from easy walks to more challenging treks, and enjoy spotting diverse wildlife, including wild elephants, gibbons, deer, and numerous bird species. Night safaris are also available for observing nocturnal animals. It is advisable to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring insect repellent.
Cost: The entrance fee for foreign adults is 400 THB, and for foreign children (3-14 years old), it is 200 THB.
Transport: The park is expansive, and attractions within it are spread out. Public transport is not available inside the park. It is highly recommended to arrange private transport, such as renting a car or hiring a private car with a driver. Scooter rentals are also available from Pak Chong (around 300 THB per day) or at the park's north entrance (around 600 THB per day). Many organized tours from Bangkok or within Khao Yai include park visits.
