Ayutthaya is primarily served by its Railway Station and a Bus Station, which are key points for arrival and departure. Minivans also drop off passengers at various locations within the city, such as Chao Phrom Market or near Wat Mahathat.

By Train:

Trains are a popular and affordable way to reach Ayutthaya from Bangkok. Ordinary trains typically depart from Hua Lamphong Railway Station in Bangkok, with fares starting from 15-20 THB and a journey time of approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Faster services, including rapid, express, and special express trains, depart from Krung Thepp Aphiwat Central Terminal (Bansue Grand Station) in Bangkok, with ticket prices ranging from 50 THB up to 950 THB, and travel times as short as 45 minutes to 1 hour and 2 minutes.

By Minivan:

Air-conditioned minivans offer a faster alternative to trains, taking about 1 to 2.5 hours to reach Ayutthaya. They primarily depart from Mo Chit Bus Terminal in Bangkok, with some services also available from Khao San Road. Fares typically range from 60 THB to 340 THB. Minivans may make several stops, and passengers are usually dropped near prominent sites like Wat Mahathat or specific minivan offices in Ayutthaya.

By Bus:

Public buses are available from Bangkok's Mo Chit Bus Terminal. The journey to Ayutthaya takes approximately 1 to 2 hours and can cost between 50 THB and 100 THB. While generally a budget-friendly option, public buses make more stops, leading to longer travel times compared to minivans.

By Taxi/Private Car:

For the most direct and comfortable journey, a taxi or private car can take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours from Bangkok. A one-way taxi fare from Bangkok to Ayutthaya can range from 850 THB to 3,000 THB, depending on the service and negotiation. Booking a private transfer for a round trip, including touring Ayutthaya, might be a more cost-effective option, with prices starting around 2,500 THB.
