Yangon is served by Yangon International Airport (RGN), the primary gateway for air travel, and Yangon Central Railway Station for train services. For road travel, the city utilizes two main highway bus terminals: Aung Mingalar Bus Terminal and Hlaing Thar Yar Bus Terminal.

By Air:

Yangon International Airport (RGN) handles both international and domestic flights. Direct international flights are available from major Asian cities such as Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Guangzhou, Taipei, and Seoul. Domestic airlines also offer services to various locations across Myanmar, including popular tourist destinations like Bagan, Mandalay, and Heho. Flight costs for one-way tickets to Yangon can range from approximately $73 to $516, depending on the origin and airline, with return flights starting around $141.

By Train:

Yangon Central Railway Station connects to Myanmar Railways' network, reaching destinations like Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw. Travel by train between Yangon and Mandalay can take about 11 to 17.5 hours, with fares ranging from approximately 19,000 to 39,000 Kyats for various classes. For the Yangon-Bagan express train, the journey is approximately 19 hours and 45 minutes, with ticket prices from K7,200 to K19,800. However, it has been reported that train tickets may not be sold to foreigners for security reasons, and foreign visitor restrictions may apply to the railway system. The Yangon Circular Railway offers a 3.5-hour commuter loop within and around the city.

By Bus:

Long-distance buses are a popular and often recommended mode of transport for inter-city travel within Myanmar. Buses to and from Yangon operate primarily from Aung Mingalar Bus Terminal, serving most cities and towns across the country, while Hlaing Thar Yar Bus Terminal serves the Ayeyarwaddy Division. Journeys to destinations like Mandalay or Bagan typically take 8-10 hours, with costs for VIP buses ranging from approximately 15,000 to 25,000 MMK ($5.26-$8.77 USD).
