1. Explore Saddan Cave
Step into the expansive Saddan Cave, renowned for its stunning natural rock formations, impressive stalagmites and stalactites, and numerous Buddha statues and pagodas. A highlight is the discovery of a 'secret lake' at the cave's far end, where a tranquil boat ride through a river cave returns visitors to the entrance. It is advisable to wear shoes that can get muddy, as parts of the cave floor can be wet.
Cost: Entrance fee is approximately MMK 1,000. A boat ride from the cave's exit back to the entrance costs around MMK 2,000-3,000 per person, or more if a private boat is preferred.
Transport: Saddan Cave is approximately 35 kilometers southeast of Hpa-An, a drive of about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Renting a motorbike for the day is a popular and flexible option, costing around MMK 6,000-12,000 ($5-$15 USD). Alternatively, a tuk-tuk or taxi can be hired for the day (MMK 20,000-30,000 or $15-$20 USD) or for a one-way trip (MMK 5,000-10,000).
