Kuala Lumpur is served by Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA2 for air travel, while KL Sentral functions as the city's main intermodal transport hub and railway station. For long-distance bus services, Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) is the primary hub, integrated with rail connections.

Flights (to/from Kuala Lumpur International Airport - KLIA & KLIA2):

  • KLIA Ekspres Train:: A direct, non-stop service connecting KLIA/KLIA2 to KL Sentral in approximately 28-33 minutes. Services run every 15-20 minutes, with a one-way fare of about RM55-RM60 (approx. USD 12 / SGD 15).
  • KLIA Transit Train:: Also connects KLIA/KLIA2 to KL Sentral, taking around 35 minutes with several stops, including TBS. Fares are similar to KLIA Ekspres.
  • Airport Buses (e.g., Skybus, Aerobus):: Connect KLIA/KLIA2 to KL Sentral, taking 60-90 minutes depending on traffic. Fares start from RM10-RM12 (approx. USD 2.20 / SGD 3.16).
  • Taxis/Ride-hailing services (e.g., Grab):: Offer door-to-door transfers to the city center in about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Costs can range from RM75-RM190 (approx. USD 16-40 / SGD 25-62), with potential surcharges for late-night travel (00:00-06:00).
  • Private Car Transfers/Car Rentals:: Provide flexible travel from the airport to various destinations. Private transfers start from approximately RM190, while car rentals are available from around RM139 per day.

Long-Distance Buses (to/from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan - TBS):

  • TBS is Kuala Lumpur's central hub for intercity buses, connecting to over 150 destinations across Peninsular Malaysia and to Singapore.

  • To Melaka: Approximately 2.5 hours, fares from RM10.
  • To Penang (George Town): Approximately 5-6 hours, fares from RM37.
  • To Johor Bahru: Approximately 5-6 hours, fares from RM28-RM30.

Long-Distance Trains (to/from KL Sentral):

  • KTM ETS (Electric Train Service):: Connects KL Sentral to major cities in northern Peninsular Malaysia, such as Ipoh and Butterworth (for Penang).
  • Travel from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth takes approximately 4 hours.
  • For travel to/from Singapore, a change of trains at Gemas is required to connect with services to Johor Bahru Sentral.
