Access to Gili Trawangan, a car-free island, is exclusively by sea. The main transport hubs for reaching the island are Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Bali and Lombok International Airport (LOP) in Lombok. From these airports, travelers proceed to various ports for boat transfers, such as Padang Bai, Sanur, or Serangan in Bali, and Bangsal, Teluk Nare, or Teluk Kodek in Lombok. On Gili Trawangan, the Gili Trawangan Port serves as the primary arrival and departure point for fast boats.

From Bali to Gili Trawangan by Fast Boat:

This is the most popular route. Fast boats depart from ports like Padang Bai (east Bali), Sanur, or Serangan (south Bali). The sea journey typically takes between 1.5 to 2.5 hours, though total travel time including transfers to the port can be 3-4 hours. Costs range from IDR 300,000 to IDR 650,000 per person one-way, often including hotel pick-up in Bali.

From Bali to Gili Trawangan via Lombok (Flight + Boat):

Travelers can fly from Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) to Lombok International Airport (LOP), a flight of approximately 25-45 minutes, with costs typically starting from around US$55. From Lombok Airport, a 1.5 to 2-hour car transfer to Bangsal Port or Teluk Nare/Teluk Kodek is required, with taxi fares starting around IDR 250,000. From Bangsal Port, public boats to Gili Trawangan take 20-45 minutes and cost about IDR 20,000-25,000, departing when full. Alternatively, private speedboats from Teluk Nare/Teluk Kodek reach Gili Trawangan in 6-20 minutes, costing approximately IDR 300,000-400,000 per boat (up to 5 people), offering more flexible departure times.

From Gili Trawangan to Lombok:

Public boats depart from Gili Trawangan's Beach Jetty to Bangsal Port on Lombok, taking 20-30 minutes and costing around IDR 20,000-25,000. These boats operate on a specific schedule, for example, twice daily. Private speedboats offer a faster transfer to Teluk Nare Harbor in Lombok, completing the journey in 6-10 minutes for approximately IDR 350,000-400,000 per boat (up to 5 people).

Internal Transport on Gili Trawangan:

Motorized vehicles are prohibited on the island. Primary transportation options include renting bicycles (from IDR 50,000 per day) or using a cidomo (horse-drawn carriage), with prices ranging from IDR 50,000 to IDR 250,000 depending on distance.
