Getting There and Away
The primary gateway to Canggu is Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), also known as Denpasar Airport.
Taxis:
Readily available from the airport. A metered Bluebird taxi or a pre-paid airport taxi is generally recommended. Costs typically range from IDR 170,000 to IDR 310,000 (approximately $11-$20 USD). The journey usually takes between 40 minutes to 1 hour, depending on traffic.
Private Transfers:
Pre-booking a private transfer offers convenience with a guaranteed ride upon arrival and pre-set pricing, often around IDR 300,000 (around $20 USD). Travel time is approximately 30-45 minutes.
Ride-Sharing Apps (Grab & Gojek):
While Uber is not available in Bali, Grab and Gojek are widely used alternatives. They have dedicated pick-up points at Denpasar Airport since restrictions were lifted in 2022. A Grab or Gojek car ride from the airport to Canggu can cost between IDR 200,000-300,000 (around $13-$20 USD), although airport surcharges may apply.
Shuttle:
A shuttle service between Ngurah Rai Airport and Canggu is available, with a journey taking approximately 20 minutes and costing around IDR 26,490 (approx. $1.70 USD).
Ferry:
A direct ferry operates daily from Pantai Kedonganan, near the airport, to Nelayan Beach in Canggu. The journey takes about 25 minutes and costs approximately IDR 215,000.
