Battambang is served by a central bus terminal with various operators, and a railway station primarily for weekend services. Battambang Airport is located approximately 3 km from the city center, though intercity flights are not the most common transport method for tourists.

By Bus:

The most common and economical way to travel.

  • From Phnom Penh: Journeys typically take 4 to 7 hours and cost between $7 and $17 USD. Multiple bus companies operate this route, with frequent daily departures.
  • From Siem Reap: Travel time is generally 3 to 4 hours, with tickets ranging from $7 to $12 USD. Several operators offer daily services.
  • From Poipet and Bangkok: Buses also connect Battambang to these locations.

By Shared Taxi:

Offers a faster, though more expensive, option.

  • From Phnom Penh: A seat can cost $10-$15 USD, while a private taxi for up to four passengers is approximately $87.50 USD, taking under 4 hours.
  • From Siem Reap: A private taxi typically costs around $50 USD for a 2 to 2.5-hour journey.

By Boat:

A scenic but longer alternative, especially from Siem Reap.

  • From Siem Reap: The boat trip along the Sangker River can take 5 to 9 hours, with tickets around $15 to $30 USD. This journey is particularly recommended during the wet season when water levels are higher.

By Train:

Rail services are limited.

  • From Phnom Penh or Sisophon: Services run primarily on weekends. A journey from Phnom Penh can take 13 to 14 hours and costs around $3 USD.
