Located on Swami Rock, Fort Frederick is a historic colonial fort offering panoramic views of Trincomalee Bay. Within its grounds, the ancient Koneswaram Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site. Visitors can appreciate the temple's vibrant architecture and spiritual atmosphere, as well as the 'Lover's Leap' viewpoint, known for its dramatic cliffside views. It is advisable to visit in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat, and modest attire covering shoulders and knees is required for the temple.

Transport: Fort Frederick and Koneswaram Temple are located in the center of Trincomalee on a peninsula. It is about 2.5 km from Trincomalee Railway Station and 2 km from the bus station. Visitors can reach it by hiring a tuk-tuk, renting a bicycle, or walking. If driving a private vehicle, it must be parked in a designated area, and a tuk-tuk can be hired for the final ascent to the temple.
