Pokhara offers a dynamic and budget-friendly range of hostels and guesthouses, providing ample opportunities for social interaction and a lively atmosphere for travelers.
1. Pokhara Backpackers Hostel
Type: Hostel
This hostel buzzes with energy and a social vibe, making it easy to meet fellow travelers. Common areas are inviting, featuring board games, and a bar is available for evening gatherings. I enjoyed starting my day with the complimentary breakfast on the rooftop, which offers views of the Annapurna Range and Machapuchare. The location is just minutes from Phewa Lake.
2. Kiwi Backpackers Hostel Pokhara
Type: Hostel
Situated at the south end of Lakeside, this hostel is a lively and social hotspot. The rooftop 5 O'clock Happy Hour bar is a central point for connecting with other travelers. They also arrange impromptu BBQs, cooking classes, and daily trekking meetups, which are great for group bonding. Its proximity to Lakeside's bars ensures a vibrant nightlife nearby.
3. Zostel Pokhara
Type: Hostel
Perched by Phewa Lake, Zostel Pokhara provides a sprawling, comfortable experience with a balanced vibe—vibrant yet relaxed. The on-site bar serves as a lively hub for evening gatherings, sometimes with music and dancing. Its garden and lake views contribute to a serene setting while still offering ample social opportunities.
4. Margik Backpackers Hostel
Type: Hostel
I found this hostel to offer excellent value, including a delicious breakfast of toast and omelet. The location is ideal, just a two-minute walk from the lake without being in the noisy part of Lakeside. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, providing tips and assistance. It’s a clean and comfortable place, well-suited for solo travelers looking for a welcoming atmosphere.
