The main street of Bandipur, the Bandipur Bazaar, is a pedestrianized area that allows for leisurely exploration. Visitors can observe the distinct traditional Newari architecture, characterized by intricately carved wooden details and brickwork, that lines the street. Many buildings have been preserved or restored, offering a glimpse into the town's historical trading past. Cafes and local shops are available for relaxing and observing daily life.

Transport: The Bandipur Bazaar is the central area of the town and is easily accessible on foot from most accommodations.

2. Hike to Thani Mai Temple for Sunrise or Sunset Views

Inside, visitors can observe impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations and encounter a large bat population. Exploring the cave typically involves navigating a dark environment, adding to the adventurous experience.

Cost: Entrance fee is approximately Rs. 100. A local guide, costing around Rs. 100, is recommended, especially for solo visitors, to navigate the large, dark interior and point out features. Guided tours may offer inclusive packages.

Transport: The cave is located roughly 15 km from Bandipur. It can be reached by a challenging hike of about 1.5 to 3 hours one-way, depending on trail conditions. Alternatively, a walk downhill for about 20 minutes leads to Bimalnagar on the main highway. From Bimalnagar, a local bus to Dumre costs around Rs. 20 (5-minute ride), and then another local bus from Dumre to Bandipur costs Rs. 100 (30-minute ride). Taxis are also available from Dumre to Bandipur for approximately Rs. 600.

4. Hike to Ramkot Village

A popular trek from Bandipur leads to Ramkot, a traditional Magar village. This hike offers an opportunity to experience rural Nepali life, passing through terraced fields and forests. Ramkot is known for its authentic lifestyle and, on clear days, provides additional panoramic views of the Himalayas. The village also features some rare, thatched roundhouses.

Transport: The hike from Bandipur to Ramkot typically takes around 2 to 5 hours one-way, depending on pace and specific starting points. It is usually undertaken as a walking excursion from Bandipur, with no specific public transport within the village itself.

5. Visit Tundikhel Viewpoint

Tundikhel is a wide, open field that historically served as a parade ground and trading spot. Today, it is a popular location for relaxation and serves as another excellent viewpoint in Bandipur. From here, visitors can enjoy expansive vistas of the surrounding valleys and the majestic Himalayan peaks, including parts of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. It is particularly popular for picnics and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.
