Lima is primarily served by Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM), located in Callao, and various bus terminals operated by individual companies throughout the city for domestic travel. The city also has a Metropolitano bus rapid transit system and a single metro line for urban movement.

By Air (International and Domestic):

Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) is the main gateway. One-way flights to Lima can start from $120 USD, with round-trip fares beginning around $264 USD.

From Jorge Chávez International Airport to City/Miraflores:

  • Airport Express Lima Bus:: This official shuttle service runs hourly to and from Miraflores. A one-way ticket costs around $4-$6.50 USD (15-20 Peruvian Soles) and the journey takes approximately 50 minutes. Buses offer Wi-Fi and USB charging.
  • Official Airport Taxis:: Taxis are available inside the airport terminal from companies like Taxi Green, Taxi Direct, and Taxi 365. Fares to Miraflores are fixed, typically ranging from 60 to 70 Peruvian Soles (about $15-$25 USD). The travel time is approximately 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
  • Ride-sharing Apps (e.g., InDrive, Uber, Didi, Cabify):: While apps like InDrive can be cheaper (around $6.50 USD or 23 Peruvian Soles to Miraflores), official authorities at Lima Airport recommend using the official bus service or registered taxi companies due to potential safety and legal issues with app-based services trying to enter the airport.

By Long-Distance Bus (Within Peru):

There is no central bus station in Lima; instead, various bus companies operate from their own terminals. Major bus companies include Peru Hop, Civa, Oltursa, and Movilbus.

  • Lima to Cusco:: Bus journeys typically take between 22 and 24 hours, with ticket prices ranging from approximately $35 to $100 USD (90 to 185 Peruvian Soles).
  • Other popular routes: include destinations like Arequipa, Paracas, and Nazca.
