Getting There and Away

Latacunga's primary transport hub is its main bus terminal, conveniently located on the Pan American Highway, south of the 5 de Junio Bridge. This terminal serves as a central point for inter-city and inter-provincial travel, with taxis readily available for local transport within the city.

From Quito:

Buses depart frequently from Quito's Quitumbe Terminal Terrestre to Latacunga, with services running every 30 minutes or less. The journey typically lasts 1 to 1.5 hours and costs between $1.50 and $4. Alternatively, private car services or taxis can take approximately 1 hour and 13 minutes, with costs ranging from $45-$55 for a taxi or around $150 for a private transfer for 5-8 people. Shared taxi services are also available for $12-$17 per person.

From Baños:

Direct buses operate from Baños to Latacunga, departing every 30 minutes from 4 AM to 6 PM from the Baños bus terminal. The travel time is approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, and tickets cost between $2 and $7.

From Guayaquil:

Direct bus services from Guayaquil's Terminal Terrestre to Latacunga run multiple times daily. The journey is approximately 6 to 8 hours and ticket prices range from $7 to $17.

From Quilotoa Loop Villages (Quilotoa, Chugchilán, Sigchos, Isinlivi):

Buses run regularly from Quilotoa to Latacunga, taking about 2 hours and departing hourly from 8 AM to 5 PM. Buses from Chugchilán to Latacunga take 2.5 to 3 hours and cost around $2.50. From Sigchos, buses to Latacunga take 1.5 hours. There are also early morning buses from Isinlivi to Latacunga, or you can connect via Sigchos.

From Cuenca:

Buses from Cuenca to Latacunga have an approximate travel time of 7.5 hours and cost around $8.
