Iquique's main transport hub is Diego Aracena International Airport (IQQ), located approximately 39 km south of the city center. The city also has a central bus terminal, Terminal Rodoviario de Iquique, on Patricio Lynch street.

By Air:

The most common way to reach Iquique, especially from central Chile, is by flying into Diego Aracena International Airport (IQQ). Flights from Santiago, Chile's capital, typically take around 3.5 hours. Airlines such as LATAM Chile, Sky Airlines, and JetSmart operate at IQQ.

  • Airport Transfers (to/from IQQ)::
  • Shuttle:: Private shuttle services are available from the airport to your accommodation in Iquique, with prices starting from CLP$ 8,900 per person for groups of 12. For a single person, a private shuttle can be around CLP$ 40,000. These services typically take about 1.5 hours.
  • Taxi/Uber:: Taxis are readily available at the airport, with official services like Taxis Tarapacá and Taxis Aeropuerto Diego Aracena located at the arrivals exit. Uber also operates in Iquique. A taxi ride from the airport to Iquique takes about 36 minutes and can cost between $40-$55.
  • Car Rental:: Several international and local car rental companies, including Econorent, Gama Rent, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Keddy, Euro Rent, Mitta, Salfa Rent, and West Rent a Car, have desks at Iquique Airport. Renting a car allows for exploration at your own pace.
  • Bus (from/to IQQ, with transfer):: While there are no direct bus lines from the airport to the city, you can take a bus from Iquique Airport to Pozo Almonte, then transfer to another bus to Iquique. This route can take around 2 hours 4 minutes and cost $8-$13.

By Bus (Long-Distance):

Iquique's main bus terminal, Terminal Rodoviario de Iquique, serves national destinations like Santiago, Calama, Arica, and Antofagasta, as well as international routes to Lima (Peru) and La Paz, Santa Cruz, and Cochabamba (Bolivia).

  • From Santiago:: Direct bus services from Santiago to Iquique are available, with Turbus operating multiple times a day. The journey can take approximately 22 hours 40 minutes to 27 hours 11 minutes, with costs ranging from $35-$100.
