From La Paz:
By Flight:: Boliviana de Aviación (BoA) offers direct daily flights to Uyuni (UYU) with a journey time of approximately 1 hour. Costs typically range from $89 USD to $145 USD. Joya Andina Airport is about 10-15 minutes from Uyuni town, with taxis costing around $2-3.50 USD.
By Bus:: Overnight sleeper buses are a common and economical option, taking approximately 9 to 12 hours. Companies like Todo Turismo, Trans Titicaca, and Trans Omar offer services, with tickets for high-quality buses starting around $43 USD. Buses usually depart between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM, arriving in Uyuni the next morning. A terminal fee of approximately Bs 2.5 (around $0.36 USD) is required at the La Paz bus terminal.
By Bus and Train Combo (via Oruro):: Take a bus from La Paz to Oruro (approximately 4 hours), then a train from Oruro to Uyuni (approximately 7 hours). Train tickets are generally around $25 USD. Train services include Expreso del Sur (Tuesdays and Fridays, departing Oruro at 2:30 PM) and Wara Wara del Sur (Wednesdays and Sundays, departing Oruro at 7:00 PM).
From Santa Cruz:
By Flight (via La Paz or Cochabamba):: Boliviana de Aviación (BoA) and Ecojet offer flights to Uyuni with a stopover in La Paz or Cochabamba.
By Bus:: A direct bus journey from Santa Cruz to Uyuni is a long ride, around 18 to 20 hours.
Combined Flight + Bus (via Sucre):: Fly from Santa Cruz to Sucre (around 35 minutes, $35-50 USD), then take a bus from Sucre to Uyuni.
From Sucre or Potosí:
By Bus:: Direct overnight buses from Sucre to Uyuni take approximately 7-8 hours, with companies like '6 de Octubre', Exp. 11 de Julio, and Emperador departing between 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM. Costs for a direct bus from Sucre can be around 85 Bs (approximately $12 USD). Alternatively, take a bus from Sucre to Potosí (3-4 hours, about 30 Bs or $4.34 USD), then connect to a bus for Uyuni (fares ranging from 30 to 60 Bs).
From San Pedro de Atacama (Chile):
By Bus:: Cruz del Norte offers regular bus service from San Pedro de Atacama to Calama (around 1 hour), then from Calama to Uyuni. Buses from Calama typically depart daily at 5:30 AM and arrive in Uyuni 9-10 hours later, with prices fluctuating from $14-20 USD. Passengers will cross the border at the Ollagüe migratory center.
From Villazón (Bolivia, near Argentina border):
