Wellington's hotel scene offers a range of sophisticated luxury and unique boutique establishments, providing comfort and excellent service that complements the city's vibrant cultural and culinary landscape.
1. Sofitel Wellington
Type: Luxury Hotel
Stepping into the Sofitel, I found an atmosphere of elegant French sophistication blended with New Zealand's charm. The rooms and suites provide a luxurious sanctuary, complete with plush Sofitel MyBeds and spa-like bathrooms. The Jardin Grill offers a delightful dining experience with its open kitchen, and the La Serre Bar is perfect for a refined drink, allowing for relaxed social moments in a chic setting.
2. QT Wellington
Type: Boutique Hotel
At QT Wellington, I immersed myself in its unique artistic and luxurious environment, located right on the waterfront opposite the Te Papa Museum. The hotel truly feels like an art gallery, with dramatic and lavish designs, and even quirky features like a brass hippo motif. The rooms are stylish and comfortable, and the hotel's two eateries and bustling bar provide a lively atmosphere for socializing and experiencing Wellington's creative energy.
3. Ohtel Wellington
Type: Boutique Hotel
Staying at Ohtel in Oriental Bay, I appreciated its intimate and sophisticated ambiance. With a focus on mid-century elegance, each of the ten individually furnished rooms feels curated. The personalized service creates a welcoming environment, and I found the Ohtel Pantry a pleasant spot for breakfast. Its waterfront location offers a relaxed base with easy access to cultural attractions, bars, and restaurants, making it ideal for those who enjoy a more personal touch.
