Darwin's primary transport hubs include Darwin International Airport (DRW), the Port of Darwin (East Arm Wharf and Fort Hill Wharf), the Adelaide to Darwin Railway, and various bus interchanges located in Darwin City, Casuarina, and Palmerston.

Flights:

Darwin International Airport (DRW) is the main air gateway, situated just outside the city center. One-way domestic flights can range from approximately $132 from Gold Coast to $327 from Sydney, with return flights within Australia costing around $263 to $298. Flight durations include about 3 hours and 30 minutes from Perth and 4 hours and 15 minutes from Melbourne. International return flights, such as from London, can start from around £583.

Trains:

The Ghan is a long-distance train service connecting Darwin with Adelaide and Alice Springs. The journey from Adelaide to Darwin typically takes 3 days and 2 nights, with fares starting from approximately $3,590 for Gold Twin to $6,290 for Platinum service.

Buses:

Public bus services operate within Darwin and its surrounding areas, including Casuarina and Palmerston. All public bus services in the Greater Darwin Region are free until at least July 1, 2025.

Car Rentals:

Car rental services are available at Darwin International Airport and in the city, with daily costs generally ranging from $28 to $52.80 AUD. Drivers must hold a valid license and provide a credit card for a security deposit. Driving is on the left side of the road.

Ferries:

Passenger ferries operate from Cullen Bay to Mandorah (about 15 minutes one-way) and the Tiwi Islands (approximately 2.5 hours one-way).
