Getting There and Away

            <p>BC Ferries operates routes between Tsawwassen (Vancouver mainland) and Swartz Bay (Victoria), with the crossing taking approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes.  The total journey from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria can take around 3.5 hours, including travel to and from the terminals.  As of May 2025, adult passenger fares range from $15.00 to $20.00, while a standard vehicle (under 20 feet) can cost between $34 and $85, depending on booking and fare type.  Reservations for vehicles are strongly recommended to avoid potential long waits.  From Swartz Bay, local BC Transit Route 70 provides express bus service to downtown Victoria in about an hour.</p>

            <p>The Black Ball Ferry Line (M.V. Coho) connects Victoria's Inner Harbour with Port Angeles, Washington, USA, in a 90-minute journey.  Indicative one-way fares from October 2022 were $21.00 for an adult passenger and $70.00 for a vehicle and driver (under 18 feet), plus a fuel surcharge.  The Victoria Clipper offers a passenger-only high-speed catamaran service between Seattle, Washington, USA, and Victoria's Inner Harbour, with a travel time of under 3 hours.  A valid passport or enhanced ID is required for cross-border travel.</p>

            <p>Harbour Air and Kenmore Air provide seaplane services directly to Victoria's Inner Harbour from downtown Vancouver, Vancouver Harbour, Nanaimo, and Seattle.  Flights from Vancouver to Victoria typically take about 35 minutes, while Seattle to Victoria flights are around 45 minutes.  One-way fares can start from as low as $59 with Harbour Air.</p>

            <p>The BC Ferries Connector offers bus-and-ferry packages from downtown Vancouver directly to Victoria.  Within Vancouver Island, inter-city bus services are available, such as the #61 Sooke-Victoria route with $2.50 fares and frequent daily trips as of late 2024.  Services connecting other island communities, like Duncan and Victoria, are less frequent, with one-way fares around $10 and a travel time of about 75 minutes.  The YYJ Airport Shuttle also provides transfers from Victoria International Airport.</p>
