Fredericton's primary transport hub is the Fredericton International Airport (YFC), which connects the city to major Canadian destinations. Public bus services, known as Fredericton Transit, provide transportation throughout the city. While there are no longer train services, car rental agencies offer a flexible way to explore the area.

By Air:

  • Fredericton International Airport (YFC) is located approximately 9 miles from central Fredericton, with travel taking around 20 minutes by taxi or rideshare, or 45 minutes by public transport.
  • Airlines serving YFC include Air Canada, Porter Airlines, Lynx Air, and Sunwing.
  • Air Canada offers multiple daily flights to Toronto (Pearson) and Montreal.
  • Porter Airlines provides daily connections to Ottawa and Toronto (Billy Bishop Airport).
  • Lynx Air operates three times weekly flights to Toronto with onward connections to Calgary.
  • Sunwing offers flights to Caribbean destinations such as Cayo Santa Maria, Punta Cana, and Cancun.
  • Round-trip flight costs to Fredericton vary, with some options ranging from $393 to $436, and one-way flights from Newark Liberty Airport starting around $186.
  • September is often the cheapest month to find flights to Fredericton.

By Bus (Local Transit):

  • Fredericton Transit operates fixed routes across the city and a para-transit service, generally running seven days a week, excluding most holidays.
  • As of April 14, 2025, many routes operate every 30 minutes between 6: 30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • Some routes (18 and 20) shifted to an on-demand service as of July 10, 2025, during specific hours.
  • A single cash fare is $3.00 (exact change required).
  • Monthly passes are available for $85 (adult) and $60 (student), and a 10-ticket rider card costs $27.50.
  • Payments can be made with debit or credit cards, cellphones, or smartwatches, and transfers are free for continuous trips.

By Car Rental:

  • Car rental services are available from the Fredericton Airport and various locations within the city.
  • Companies include Hertz, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Avis, Thrifty, Budget, and National.
  • Daily rental rates vary, with the cheapest recently found at Hertz for around $24.07 per day.
  • January is typically the most affordable month to rent a car, with an average cost of $37 per day.
  • Booking car rentals in advance is advisable due to high demand.

By Train:

  • There is no active passenger train service to Fredericton.
