Hay Castle, Hay-on-Wye The castle has been under attack many times throughout its history. It was destroyed by King John in 1216. In 1977 a great part of it was destroyed by fire.

National Express coaches also serve Hereford, providing connections from other UK locations.

By Car:

Hay-on-Wye is accessible via the A438, situated between Brecon and Hereford. Driving from London typically takes 3 to 3.5 hours. By Air:

The closest airports are Birmingham (BHX), Bristol (BRS), and Cardiff (CWL). From these airports, onward travel generally involves a combination of train and bus or taxi services.
