1. Explore Patara Ancient City and Relax on Patara Beach
Step back in time by exploring the extensive ruins of Patara Ancient City, a significant center of the Lycian civilization. You can wander through the Lycian League parliament building (Bouleuterion), marvel at the grand Roman theatre, and see the triple-arched triumphal gate. The site also features the base of what is believed to be one of the world's oldest lighthouses and Hadrian's Granary. After exploring the historical marvels, transition seamlessly to Patara Beach, renowned as one of Turkey's longest (18 km) and most unspoiled sandy shores. The beach is a protected nesting site for the endangered Caretta caretta sea turtles, offering a tranquil environment for swimming, sunbathing, and long, peaceful walks. Note that the beach is closed between 8 PM and 8 AM during turtle nesting season.
