El Hierro's main transport hubs are El Hierro Airport (VDE) near Valverde for air travel and Puerto de la Estaca, also close to Valverde, for ferry services.

By Air:

Flights operate daily to El Hierro Airport (VDE) from Tenerife-Norte Airport (TFN) and Gran Canaria Airport (LPA). Airlines such as Binter Canarias and Canaryfly serve these routes, with flight durations of approximately 40 minutes from Tenerife.

By Ferry:

Direct ferry crossings are available from Los Cristianos port in Tenerife to Valverde (Puerto de la Estaca) in El Hierro. Services are operated by Naviera Armas and Fred Olsen Express, with up to 3-4 daily crossings. The journey typically takes between 2 hours 20 minutes and 2 hours 30 minutes. One-way tickets can start from approximately €51, with additional costs for vehicles.

Getting Around the Island:

Rental cars are widely available at both the airport and the ferry port, offering flexibility for exploration. Public bus services, known as 'guaguas' and operated by Transhierro, connect major villages and some tourist attractions. Taxis are also available in key towns like Valverde, La Frontera/Tigaday, and La Restinga.
