Palma de Mallorca is well-served by its international airport, Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI), and the Port of Palma, which acts as a major ferry and cruise ship terminal.

By Air:

Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) connects the island to numerous destinations, primarily across Europe and mainland Spain. Direct flights from major Spanish cities like Barcelona, Madrid, and Valencia typically range from 1 to 1.5 hours. One-way flights from the United States can be found from approximately $17, with round-trip options starting around $29. Airlines such as Ryanair, easyJet, Eurowings, Iberia, and Vueling operate direct routes.

By Ferry:

Ferries provide connections from mainland Spain to Palma and Alcúdia. Routes from Barcelona to Palma take approximately 7 to 8.5 hours, with prices starting from about €14 to €204, depending on the operator and type of vessel. High-speed ferries from Barcelona to Mallorca can reduce travel time to around 3.5 hours. From Valencia to Palma, journeys typically take 7 to 9 hours, with average costs around $242. Ferries also run from Denia to Palma, taking about 5 to 6 hours. Companies like Balearia, Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV), and Trasmed GLE operate these routes, and it is possible to bring a vehicle on board.

From Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) to Palma City Centre:

  • Bus:: The EMT A1 bus service runs regularly from the airport to the city centre, including stops like Plaça d'Espanya. A single ticket costs €5, and the journey takes approximately 20-30 minutes.
  • Taxi:: Taxis are readily available outside the airport terminal. A taxi fare to the city centre typically ranges from €28 to €37, with a journey time of about 15 minutes. Additional fees may apply for airport pick-ups, late-night travel, and large luggage.
  • Private Transfers:: Pre-booked private transfers offer door-to-door service, with costs to Palma city centre around €25 and a travel time of 15-20 minutes.
  • Shared Shuttle Services:: These are a more economical option, ideal for solo travellers or groups, making stops at various hotels. For example, a shared shuttle to Magaluf might cost €12-€15 per person and take 40-60 minutes.

Car Rental:

Car rental services are available at Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) from various companies such as Record Go, Wiber, Goldcar, and Hertz. Daily rental prices can start from as low as $15-$19, though prices fluctuate seasonally. It is advisable to book in advance, especially during peak seasons.
