Inverness is well-served by its airport, a central railway station, and a main bus station, making it a key transport hub in the Scottish Highlands. A newer Mobility Hub at Torvean also facilitates connections for various transport modes outside the city centre.
By Air:
Inverness Airport (INV) is located approximately 8-9 miles east of the city.
Airlines such as British Airways, easyJet, KLM, and Loganair offer direct flights to and from destinations including London (Heathrow, Gatwick), Amsterdam, Bristol, Manchester, Belfast City, and Dublin.
Flights from major US cities, often with connections, can range from approximately $417 to $600+ for a round trip, with travel times typically between 11 to 13 hours.
A shuttle bus service (Stagecoach Service 11) connects the airport to Inverness city centre every 30 minutes, costing around £3-£6 and taking about 36 minutes.
Taxis from the airport to the city centre cost approximately £21-£26 and take about 12-20 minutes.
By Train:
Inverness Railway Station is situated in the city centre.
Direct ScotRail services connect Inverness with major Scottish cities:

Glasgow: Approximately 3 hours 17 minutes to 3 hours 20 minutes, with fares starting from around US$21.50.
Aberdeen: Approximately 2 hours 12-16 minutes, with fares starting from around US$16.50.
Overnight Caledonian Sleeper services and daytime London North Eastern Railway (LNER) services connect Inverness to London.
London: Journey times range from approximately 8 hours (overnight) to over 10 hours, with fares starting from £34.85-£116 (or US$87.50).
By Bus:
Inverness Bus Station is located at Farraline Park, Margaret Street, close to the railway station.
Key operators include Stagecoach, Megabus, Scottish Citylink, and FlixBus.
Services connect Inverness to:
Edinburgh: Approximately 4 hours to 4 hours 24 minutes, with fares starting from €10-£24 (US$13-$29).
Glasgow: Approximately 4 hours.
London: Overnight services by National Express take around 12 hours 35 minutes, with fares from $50-$78.
Local buses, including Stagecoach Service 2, link the city centre with the Torvean Mobility Hub, which also serves Scottish Citylink routes to Skye and Fort William.
By Car:
Inverness is accessible via the A9 from the south (from Edinburgh via Perth) and the A82 from the west (from Glasgow).
Car rental services are available at Inverness Airport and within the city from companies such as Budget, Europcar, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Daily rental costs can start from £23-£40 (US$28-$53), with cheaper rates often found in months like January or February.
