Aberdeen is served by major transport hubs, including Aberdeen International Airport (ABZ) in Dyce, Aberdeen Railway Station and Aberdeen Bus Station both centrally located at Union Square, and the Aberdeen Ferry Terminal connecting to the Northern Isles.

By Air:

Aberdeen International Airport (ABZ) offers direct flights from various UK cities. For example, direct flights from London typically take between 1 hour 25 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes, with one-way fares starting from approximately £39 and return fares from £48. Flights from other major UK cities like Manchester, Belfast City, and Birmingham are also available.

Airport Transfers:: From ABZ, the Stagecoach Jet Bus 727 provides regular service (every 10 minutes during the day) to the city centre and Union Square, with a journey time of around 30 minutes. A taxi to the city centre costs approximately £15-£20 and takes about 20-25 minutes. The nearest train station, Dyce, is a short bus or taxi ride from the airport, with trains reaching Aberdeen's central station in as little as 7 minutes.

By Train:

Aberdeen Railway Station is a significant hub.

From Edinburgh:: ScotRail and LNER offer direct services, with journey times averaging 2 hours 20 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. Fares can start from £11.80 when booked in advance.
From London:: Direct services by LNER can take around 7 hours 24 minutes. The Caledonian Sleeper provides an overnight service.
From Glasgow:: ScotRail services average 3 hours 44 minutes, with the fastest journeys taking 2 hours 43 minutes. Advance tickets start from £15.30.
From other Scottish cities:: ScotRail connects Aberdeen to Inverness in about 2 hours 11 minutes and Dundee in approximately 1 hour 17 minutes.

By Bus:

The Aberdeen Bus Station at Union Square serves extensive routes.

From London:: Operators like National Express, Megabus, and FlixBus provide services, with the fastest journeys taking around 11 hours 40 minutes and fares starting from approximately £51.
From Edinburgh:: Megabus and FlixBus offer services taking 3 hours to 3 hours 35 minutes, with fares from £7 to £15.
From Glasgow:: FlixBus and Megabus connect to Aberdeen in 3 hours 20 minutes to 4 hours 45 minutes, with fares from £13 for a round trip.
Local Buses:: First Bus and Stagecoach operate city and Aberdeenshire routes. Single adult fares begin at £1.70. Day and weekly passes are available.

By Ferry:

Northlink Ferries operates from Aberdeen Ferry Terminal to the Northern Isles.

To Kirkwall (Orkney):: Up to 4 crossings per week, with a journey time of approximately 6-7 hours 15 minutes. Adult single fares start from £26.50, and car (under 6m) fares from £105 (2025 prices).
To Lerwick (Shetland):: Daily services are available, taking around 12 hours. Adult single fares start from £28, and car (under 6m) fares from £113 (2025 prices).

By Car:

Car rental services are available from major companies at Aberdeen Airport and various city locations. Economy rentals can be found from approximately $26 per day. Driving is on the left side of the road.
