Óbidos features a bus stop conveniently located approximately 100 meters from its historic center, directly outside the main town gate. The train station is situated about 1 kilometer from the historic core.

From Lisbon by Bus:

Express buses operated by Rodoviária do Oeste (also known as Rodojejo or Rodotejo) depart frequently from Lisbon's Campo Grande terminal (Terminal 2, bays 30 or 31), which is accessible via the green or yellow metro lines. The journey typically takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes. A single ticket costs approximately €8.00 to €9.05, and can be purchased from the driver or at the ticket office; return tickets are not available, so two singles are needed for a round trip. Buses run hourly in the mornings on weekdays and every 15 minutes during afternoon rush hours, with reduced services on weekends.

From Lisbon by Train:

Regional trains run from Lisbon's Santa Apolónia Station (also serving Entrecampos and Sete Rios) to Óbidos. This option is considerably slower, taking approximately 2 hours 19 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes, and potentially over three hours depending on the route. There are usually only three direct trains per day. A single ticket costs around €8 to €9. The train station is a 20-minute walk from the town center. The bus is generally recommended for its speed and convenience.

From Lisbon by Car:

Driving to Óbidos takes about 40 to 60 minutes via the A8 motorway (exit 15). Tolls typically range from €6 to €9 each way. The walled town itself is closed to traffic, but ample parking is available outside the historic center, including paid options near the Tourist Office and a free lot next to the Aqueduct.

From Porto by Bus:

Buses, including services from Rede Expressos and FlixBus, connect Porto to Óbidos. The journey often involves transfers, for example, via Leiria, and can take between 3 hours 5 minutes and 5 hours 50 minutes. Direct services may complete the journey in approximately 2 hours 55 minutes to 3 hours 11 minutes. Ticket prices generally range from €14 to €23, with cheaper fares available when booked in advance (from around €7 to €11).

From Porto by Train:

Traveling by train from Porto to Óbidos, typically involving multiple changes (e.g., at Coimbra-B and Caldas da Rainha), takes about 4 hours 35 minutes to 4 hours 50 minutes. Fares usually range from €22 to €45.

Car Rental:

Car rental services are available from major hubs like Lisbon Portela Airport and in various locations around Óbidos. Renting a car offers flexibility, particularly for exploring the surrounding region and combining Óbidos with other nearby attractions.
