Gdańsk is well-served by Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) for air travel, Gdańsk Główny as its central railway station, and Gdańsk Bus Station for domestic and international bus routes.

By Air:

Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) has direct flights from many European cities, with airlines like Ryanair and Wizz Air offering low-cost options. The airport is approximately 12-16 km from the city center. To reach the city center from the airport, one can take the SKM train (around 25-35 minutes, costing approximately 6.50 PLN or €1.50) , or public bus line 210 (around 40-50 minutes, costing approximately 4.80 PLN or €1.10) . Taxis and rideshare services like Uber or Bolt are also available, taking about 15-20 minutes to the city center, with Uber/Bolt fares typically ranging from 42-55 PLN (€9.75-13).

By Train:

Gdańsk Główny is the main railway station, offering national and international connections. Popular routes include:

  • Warsaw to Gdańsk: approximately 2.5-3.5 hours, starting from around €15-€47.
  • Kraków to Gdańsk: approximately 6-7 hours, starting from around €25.
  • Poznań to Gdańsk: approximately 4.5-5 hours, starting from around €20.
  • Berlin to Gdańsk: approximately 6-7 hours (with one change), starting from around €40-€69.
  • Within the Tri-City (Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia), the SKM commuter train runs frequently. A trip from Gdańsk Główny to Sopot takes about 19 minutes and costs around 6.50 PLN.

By Bus:

The Gdańsk Bus Station serves as the central terminal for national and international bus services, including companies like FlixBus and Sindbad. The bus station is about a 12-minute walk from the city center. Common routes and approximate costs/times are:

  • Warsaw to Gdańsk: approximately 4.5-5.5 hours, starting from around €15-€25.
  • Kraków to Gdańsk: approximately 7-8 hours, starting from around €20.
  • Berlin to Gdańsk: approximately 7-8 hours, starting from around €25.
  • Vilnius/Kaunas to Gdańsk: available with companies like TOKS and Sindbad.

By Ferry:

For those traveling from Germany, Sweden, or Denmark, ferries are an option to reach Gdańsk.

By Car:

Car rental is available for exploring Gdańsk and the surrounding Tri-City area, though navigating city parking can be challenging.
