Lom does not have a train station or an airport directly within the village. The primary transport hub in Lom is the bus station, "Lom Sentrum." Otta serves as a key railway station connecting to Lom via bus services. Sogndal Airport (SOG) is the closest airport to the broader Jotunheimen region, which Lom is a gateway to.
By Bus:
Express buses, such as Vy express VY146, travel from Oslo to Lom, with journeys typically lasting 5 hours 36 minutes to 5 hours 57 minutes and fares ranging from approximately $52 to $76 (€42 to €64).
Local bus route 860 connects Lom with Sogndal.
Innlandstrafikk provides bus services, including route 143/142, which connects Lom Sentrum to Otta skysstasjon in about 1 hour and 5 minutes, costing between kr 120-170.
During the summer season, specialized "mountain routes" (Fjellruter) and the 204 bus operate from Lom to national park entry points such as Gjendesheim and Leirvassbu.
By Train and Bus:
A train journey from Oslo to Otta typically takes between 3 hours 22 minutes and 4 hours, with tickets costing approximately $22 to $115 (€18 to €96).
From Otta, a connecting bus service continues to Lom, adding roughly 1 hour to the travel time.
By Car:
Driving offers considerable flexibility, and car rentals are available in major cities like Oslo or closer to Lom in Otta.
From Oslo, the drive typically takes 4.5 to 5 hours by taking the E6 north to Otta, then turning onto Rv 15 to Lom.
From Bergen, the route involves following E16 towards Lærdal, then Rv 5 to Sogndal, and Rv 55 (Sognefjellet) to Lom, offering scenic views, particularly on the Tindeveien and Sognefjellet stretch.
From Trondheim, travelers can take the E6 south to Otta, then Rv 15 west to Lom, a journey of approximately 4 to 4.5 hours.
By Air:
Lom does not have an airport. Sogndal Airport (SOG) is the nearest to the Jotunheimen region, accessible via flights from Oslo Gardermoen, followed by onward bus or train connections.
Molde Aro (MOL) is another airport located approximately 122 km from Lom.
