By Bus:

Regular bus services connect Žabljak with major cities in Montenegro.

  • From Podgorica: Buses depart multiple times daily, with a journey lasting approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 26 minutes. A one-way ticket typically costs between €13 and €14.
  • From Kotor: Buses operate up to twice daily, with travel times ranging from 3 hours 23 minutes to 3 hours 50 minutes. Fares are around $23 (€20).
  • From Budva: Direct bus services are available, taking about 4 hours 45 minutes, with tickets priced from $26.

By Car:

Driving provides a flexible way to reach Žabljak, offering scenic routes through Montenegro's mountainous terrain.

  • From Podgorica: The drive typically takes around 2 hours 11 minutes, with fuel costs estimated between €16 and €22. The most common route is via Nikšić and Šavnik.
  • From Kotor or Tivat: Expect a journey of approximately 3.5 to 4 hours (160–180 km). The roads are generally well-maintained, though some sections are winding with steep climbs. During winter months, it is mandatory to have winter tires, and snow chains may be necessary.

By Taxi/Private Transfer:

For direct and quicker travel, taxis or private transfers are an option.

  • From Podgorica Airport: A direct taxi to Žabljak takes approximately two hours and can cost around €70. Other estimates for taxi services from Podgorica range from $176 to $230.

By Train:

There is no direct train service to Žabljak. The nearest railway station is in Mojkovac, about 71 km away.
