Naples is well-connected through major transport hubs including Naples International Airport (Capodichino), Napoli Centrale Railway Station, and Molo Beverello Port, providing convenient access for travelers.

By Air:

Naples International Airport (NAP) serves numerous domestic, European, and increasingly, international destinations. Direct flights from major US cities like New York, Boston, Miami, Chicago, and Montreal are available, especially in summer 2025, with airlines such as Delta, United, American Airlines, and Air Canada.

  • Airport to City Center:: The Alibus Airport Shuttle offers a direct connection to Napoli Centrale Railway Station and Molo Beverello Port, with journeys taking approximately 15-20 minutes to the central station and costing around €5. Tickets can be purchased online, at the airport, or from the driver. Taxis are also readily available with flat rates to the city center typically ranging from €20 to €27.

By Train:

Napoli Centrale Railway Station is a major hub. High-speed trains, such as Frecciarossa and Italo, connect Naples to Rome in about 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, with tickets typically ranging from $15-$77 (US) or €14-€77. Connections to other major Italian cities like Milan (around 4 hours 28 minutes, from €47) and Florence (around 2 hours 50 minutes, from €24) are also frequent. For nearby destinations like Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Sorrento, the Circumvesuviana train line operates from Napoli Piazza Garibaldi (below Centrale), with tickets varying from €4.60-€16.

By Bus:

Long-distance buses arrive at terminals like Naples Metropark Central Parking. Services from Rome are frequent and affordable, with tickets starting from around €3.97-€5, and travel times typically ranging from 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours.

By Ferry:

Molo Beverello Port is the primary departure point for ferries. Frequent services connect Naples to nearby islands such as Capri (around 50 minutes, return tickets €40-€50), Ischia (around 1 hour, tickets €11-€17), and Procida (around 30-40 minutes, tickets €8-€12). Seasonal and year-round routes also serve Amalfi Coast towns like Sorrento (around 40 minutes, from €17) and Positano/Amalfi (1 hour 10 minutes to 2.5 hours, from €32). Overnight ferries are available to destinations like Sicily (Palermo, around 9 hours 40 minutes, from $282) and Sardinia.

By Car:

While car rental is an option, driving within Naples city center is often discouraged due to heavy traffic, narrow streets, and Limited Traffic Zones (ZTLs). Parking can also be challenging. Car travel is more suited for exploring the wider Campania region.
