The primary arrival points for the Amalfi Coast are Naples Capodichino Airport (NAP), and the train stations in Naples Centrale and Salerno. Sorrento also serves as a crucial gateway to the western side of the coast.

Flights:

Travelers typically fly into Naples Capodichino Airport (NAP), which is the closest airport to the Amalfi Coast.

Trains to Sorrento/Salerno:

From Naples Centrale, one can take a local Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento, a journey of approximately 70-80 minutes, costing around €3.60-€10.00. Alternatively, high-speed trains connect Naples to Salerno in about 30-40 minutes, with tickets ranging from €10-€25.

Buses:

SITA Sud buses offer extensive connections along the Amalfi Coast, linking major towns. Tickets, which typically cost between €2-€10 for a single journey, must be purchased in advance from tobacco shops (tabaccherie) or via apps like Drop Tickets. Direct shuttle buses, such as Pintour, also operate from Naples Airport to towns like Ravello or Amalfi, taking approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes and costing around €20. A shuttle bus from Naples Airport to Sorrento takes about 75-90 minutes and costs €10.

Ferries:

During the warmer months (typically April/May to September/October), ferries provide a scenic and often quicker way to travel along the coast and from mainland hubs. Direct ferries from Naples' Molo Beverello port to Positano or Amalfi are available seasonally, with journey times ranging from 1 hour 10 minutes to 2.5 hours and prices from €27.50-€32.00. From Salerno, ferries to Amalfi take around 35 minutes and cost between €9-€15. Ferries from Sorrento to Positano can take 20-60 minutes, costing about €16-€17.50, and to Amalfi, 50-100 minutes, costing €16.50-€20.

Private Transfers/Taxis:

For the most direct and comfortable journey, private transfers or taxis are available from Naples Airport or train stations directly to specific accommodations on the Amalfi Coast. This option is the fastest, typically taking 1.5 to 2 hours to Amalfi, but it is also the most expensive, with costs ranging from €100-€360 depending on the destination and service.

Car Rental:

While offering flexibility, renting a car is generally not recommended for exploring the Amalfi Coast due to extremely narrow, winding roads, heavy traffic, and very limited, expensive parking. Furthermore, an alternating license plate system restricts car access on certain days during peak season (June to October).
