Dingle is primarily served by bus services from Tralee and Killarney, which act as the main transport hubs for reaching the peninsula. Kerry Airport (KIR) is the closest airport for air travel, while Tralee and Killarney have the nearest train stations.

By Bus:

  • From Dublin: Travelers can take a Bus Éireann or Dublin Coach service to Tralee. This journey typically takes around 4 hours and 25 minutes and costs approximately €22-€30. From Tralee, one can then transfer to Bus Éireann Route 275, which runs regularly to Dingle, with a journey time of about 50-60 minutes and fares between €7-€11.
  • From Cork: Bus Éireann operates services connecting Cork to Tralee, taking approximately 2 hours. From Tralee, continue to Dingle on Bus Éireann Route 275.
  • From Killarney: Direct Local Link Kerry buses (Route 276) travel to Dingle in about 1 hour and 30 minutes, departing several times a day.
  • From Kerry Airport (KIR): A journey involves taking a Bus Éireann Route 40 service to Tralee Bus Station, followed by a transfer to Route 275 for Dingle. The total journey usually takes 2 to 2.5 hours and costs about €15. A pre-booked shuttle bus from Kerry Airport to the Dingle Peninsula is also available.

By Train:

  • From Dublin: Irish Rail provides direct services from Dublin Heuston to Tralee, taking approximately 3 hours and 55 minutes, with tickets ranging from €28-€40. Upon arrival in Tralee, passengers can take Bus Éireann Route 275 to Dingle.
  • From Cork: Train services to Tralee, often via Mallow, can take around 2.5 to 4.5 hours. From Tralee, connect to Dingle using Bus Éireann Route 275.

By Car Rental:

  • Renting a car provides considerable flexibility for exploring Dingle and the surrounding peninsula. Driving from Dublin typically takes between 3 hours 49 minutes and 4 hours 15 minutes. From Cork, the drive is approximately 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes. For those arriving at Kerry Airport, the drive to Dingle is a convenient 50 minutes to 1 hour. Car rental services are readily available at major airports and locally in Dingle, with daily rates starting from around $57.

By Taxi/Private Transfer:

  • Pre-booked private transfers or taxis offer a direct route from Kerry Airport to Dingle, taking about 50 minutes and costing approximately €100. Local taxis can also be arranged for collection from nearby train stations such as Tralee or Killarney.
