Cork City is served by Cork Airport (ORK), Kent Station for train services, Parnell Place Bus Station for bus routes, and the Ringaskiddy Ferry Terminal for international ferry travel.

Flights:

Cork Airport (ORK) is approximately 10 minutes from the city centre and offers direct flights to almost 50 European destinations and a direct transatlantic flight to North America. Additional international flight options are available via Dublin Airport, located about 250km away.

Buses:

  • From Cork Airport to City Centre:: Bus Éireann service 226 runs frequently, taking approximately 24 minutes to Parnell Place Bus Station or Kent Train Station. Fares typically range from €4-€6 for cash or €1.35-€1.55 with a TFI Leap Card. Taxis offer a faster journey of about 8-15 minutes, costing between €16-€20.
  • National and Regional Services:: Bus Éireann operates extensive routes from Parnell Place Bus Station connecting Cork to cities like Dublin, Limerick, and Galway. Aircoach provides services between Dublin (Aston Quay) and Cork (Alfred Street), with a journey time of around 3 hours and costs between €19-€35. West Cork Connect offers services from West Cork towns to Cork City, accepting the Leap Card. Bus fares for subsidised services were reduced by 20% in April 2022, with TFI Leap Card users benefiting from up to 30% savings on cash single tickets.

Trains:

Cork's Kent Station provides hourly Intercity services to Dublin Heuston, with travel times of approximately 2 hours 35 minutes and fares ranging from €22-€35 when booked online in advance. Commuter services connect Kent Station to towns such as Mallow, Cobh, and Midleton, with frequencies on the Cobh and Midleton lines increasing to every half an hour as of July 2023. Significant upgrades, including a new platform at Kent Station, were officially opened in April 2025 to enhance service frequency.

Ferries:

Brittany Ferries operates services from the Ringaskiddy Ferry Terminal, located 15km from the city, to Roscoff in France and Santander in Spain. A Cross River Ferry service also provides a 5-minute shortcut across Cork Harbour between Glenbrook and Carrigaloe for vehicles and foot passengers, operating daily from 6:30 am to 9:30 pm.

Car Rental:

Car rental services are available at Cork Airport and various city centre locations. Companies include Europcar, Sixt, Budget, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hertz, and others. While cheapest rates can be found for as low as €6.35 per day, average economy rentals are around €51 per day.
