Pécs is served by a central railway station (Pécs vasútállomás) and a main bus station (Pécsi Távolságiautóbusz-állomás), both located near the city center. For air travel, Pécs-Pogány Airport (PEV) has limited international flights, while Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) is the primary international gateway to Hungary.

By Train:

Direct InterCity (IC) trains operated by Hungarian Railways (MÁV) connect Pécs to Budapest. Journeys from Budapest's Keleti or Kelenföld stations typically take approximately 2 hours and 26 minutes to 3 hours and 31 minutes. Ticket prices range from about 3,800-4,600 HUF (€8-15 or $10-13). As of July 2025, some routes may involve bus transfers due to track maintenance.

By Bus:

Regular bus services from Budapest's Népliget Central Station to Pécs generally take around 4 hours. Bus tickets can be purchased online or at the station.

By Airport Shuttle:

From Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD), direct shuttle services like Travel4You Airport Shuttle and MECSEK Travel Airport Shuttle offer a convenient way to reach Pécs, costing approximately 9,000 HUF (around €30).

By Car/Rideshare:

Driving from Budapest to Pécs takes approximately 2 hours and 12-13 minutes. Toll-road stickers, costing about 6,000-7,000 HUF (€15-18) for 10 days, are required for highway use. Rideshare services, such as BlaBlaCar or Oszkár, are also available, with travel times around 2 hours and 55 minutes and costs of roughly 4,265-4,291 HUF.

By Air (limited):

Pécs-Pogány Airport (PEV) currently offers non-stop international flights only to Corfu (Kerkyra), Greece, operated by Universal Air.
