Passau's primary transport hub is Passau Hauptbahnhof, the main railway station, which is conveniently located near the old town. A central bus station is also available, providing connections to various domestic and international destinations.

By Train:

Passau Hauptbahnhof is well-connected by train. Direct ICE and IC long-distance trains link Passau with major German cities like Frankfurt, Nuremberg, and Regensburg, as well as Vienna in Austria. Regional trains also operate frequently to Munich and Linz.

From Munich: Direct trains take approximately 2 hours and 5 minutes, with tickets starting from €15.76.
From Nuremberg: Direct trains take around 1 hour and 51 minutes, with tickets ranging from €22 to €120.
From Vienna: Direct trains take approximately 2 hours and 18 minutes, with tickets from €19 to €85.
From Linz: Direct trains take about 57 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, with tickets from €16 to €95.

By Bus:

Long-distance bus services, primarily operated by FlixBus, connect Passau to various cities. The main bus station is often located near the central train station.

From Munich: Bus journeys can take 2.5 to 5 hours, with fares typically between €15 and €30.
From Vienna: Bus travel takes around 3 hours and 45 minutes, with tickets costing approximately €11 to €40.
From Nuremberg: Direct bus services take about 3 hours and 20 minutes, with tickets from €9 to €21.

By Air:

The closest major airport to Passau is Munich Airport (MUC), approximately 160 km away. Linz Airport (LNZ) is also a nearby option.

From Munich Airport (MUC): A combination of regional express trains from the airport to Passau, involving one transfer, takes around 2 hours and 20 minutes to 2 hours 44 minutes. Tickets start from about $39.43 (€35). Shuttle services are also available, taking 2.5 to 3 hours for €30-€50. Private driver services take 1.5 to 2 hours, costing €150-€300.
