Rouen's primary transport hub is the Gare de Rouen-Rive-Droite train station, located to the north of the city center. A bus station, offering services from various operators, is situated approximately a 15-minute walk from the train station. Rouen also has a small airport for business tourism, though larger international airports are located near Paris.
By Train:
From Paris: Direct trains depart frequently from Paris Saint-Lazare station to Rouen Rive Droite. The fastest services can take as little as 1 hour and 14 minutes, with an average journey time of about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Tickets, when booked in advance, can start from around $10-$12 (€9-€11), but may increase to $27-$30 (€30) for same-day purchases.
Other Destinations: Rouen Rive Droite offers train connections to other cities in Normandy, such as Caen, Dieppe, and Le Havre, and can also connect to larger French cities like Lille, Lyon, and Marseille.
By Bus:
From Paris: Bus services, including FlixBus and BlaBlaCar Bus, operate from various Paris locations (e.g., La Défense, Quai de Bercy) to Rouen. Travel times typically range from 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. Bus tickets are often the most economical option, starting from about $7-$8 (€6-€7) when booked in advance.
From Paris Airports: A direct Flixbus service is available from Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport to Rouen, with a journey time of approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes and fares ranging from €5 to €20.
By Car:
Driving from Paris to Rouen typically takes around 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes (130-139 km), though tolls are involved. Car rental services are readily available in Rouen from companies such as Thrifty, Dollar, Avis, and Europcar, with economy rentals potentially starting from $27-$30 per day, though prices vary. By Ferry:
