By Train:

Traveling by train from major French cities to Sarlat-la-Canéda typically involves transfers. From Paris, one option includes taking a TGV from Paris Montparnasse to Libourne (approximately 3 hours 15 minutes), followed by a TER train to Sarlat (approximately 2 hours 10 minutes). The total journey can take around 5 hours 30 minutes to 6 hours and cost between €80 and €170. Alternatively, Intercités trains run from Paris Austerlitz to Souillac (about 5 hours), from where a bus connects to Sarlat in approximately 40 minutes.

By Air:

The closest airports are Brive–Souillac Airport (BVE), located about 35.3 km away, and Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport (EGC), approximately 55.7 km distant. Flights from Paris Orly (ORY) to Brive–Souillac (BVE) are available with Chalair Aviation. From these airports, onward travel to Sarlat often requires a car rental or taxi.

By Bus:

Direct bus services from Paris to Sarlat-la-Canéda are not available; journeys typically involve multiple transfers and can take over 10 hours. Regional bus lines connect Sarlat-la-Canéda to nearby towns such as Souillac, Les Eyzies, and other locations within the Dordogne Valley. Sarlat also operates a free local bus service, 'Sarlat'Bus', within the town. During the summer season (e.g., July 15 to August 23, 2025), a shuttle service ('Navette Estivale') operates from the free parking at Lycée Joséphine Baker to the town center, costing €3 for a round trip.

By Car:
