Cambridge is served by two main railway stations: the central Cambridge Railway Station and Cambridge North Railway Station. From London Stansted Airport, direct trains reach Cambridge in about 30-35 minutes, costing around £13.
From London Heathrow, Gatwick, or Luton, travel involves a train or express service to a central London station, followed by a connecting train to Cambridge. Total journey times can be 1.5 to 3.5 hours, and costs vary significantly based on connections.
By Coach/Bus:
National Express and FlixBus offer services from London to Cambridge, with journey times between 1 to 3 hours. One-way tickets can start from £6.
Direct coach services operate from London Stansted Airport to Cambridge, typically costing around £11 and taking about an hour.
Direct National Express coaches are available from London Heathrow (1.5-2 hours, around £23), London Gatwick (around 3.5 hours, around £30), and London Luton (around 90 minutes, around £13).
By Car:
Cambridge is accessible via major roads like the M11 and A14.
Parking is available in city centre multi-storey car parks, with daily costs ranging from approximately £2.50 to over £30. Park & Ride sites on the city outskirts offer bus connections into the centre and are generally more cost-effective.
Local Buses:
Within Cambridge, local buses, including the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway, connect key areas. Single bus fares within Cambridgeshire are currently capped at £2.50 until October 31, 2025, with new fares to be introduced from August 31, 2025.
