Innsbruck (INN) and Klagenfurt (KLU) airports are also within a 2.5 to 3-hour transfer range. Private and shared airport transfer services are available from these locations, with private transfers from Salzburg to Bad Gastein starting from around €59 per person.

By Train:

Bad Gastein is well-connected by train, with its station located near the Stubnerkogelbahn cable car. Direct connections are available from cities such as Salzburg, Munich, Vienna, and Klagenfurt. A train journey from Munich Airport to Bad Gastein can take approximately 3 hours and 38 minutes to 4 hours and 40 minutes, with tickets starting from around $21 (€17) to $29 (€23) and often involving one change. From Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, a direct train to Bad Gastein takes about 1 hour and 8 minutes, with tickets ranging from €90-€110. An ÖBB combined ticket, including return train travel and a ski pass, is bookable from November 2024, starting at €76.50.

By Bus:

Regional bus line 550 connects Bad Gastein with neighboring towns like Bad Hofgastein and Lend. For example, a bus from Bad Hofgastein to Bad Gastein takes about 7-8 minutes and costs around $4 (€3). Direct intercity bus options may vary by departure city. Guests with a valid ski pass can often use the local ski buses within Skigastein free of charge during the winter season.

By Car:

Driving to Bad Gastein offers flexibility. The journey from Salzburg takes approximately 1 hour, and from Munich, about 2 hours, utilizing good motorway connections. Car rental services are available from various providers, with options for one-way rentals and different vehicle types. Please note that the Tauernbahn car shuttle, offering car transport through the mountains from Mallnitz to Böckstein, will be unavailable from November 18, 2024, to July 4, 2025, due to construction.
