By Shinkansen (Bullet Train):
From Tokyo: The fastest Nozomi trains reach Hiroshima in approximately 4 hours. A one-way reserved seat typically costs around 19,080 to 19,760 yen. Hikari and Sakura Shinkansen services are covered by the Japan Rail Pass, though a supplemental fee of about 6,500 yen may apply for Nozomi or Mizuho services.
From Osaka (Shin-Osaka): Shinkansen services like Nozomi and Mizuho can take you to Hiroshima in about 1 to 1.5 hours, with tickets starting from around 9,710 yen. Sakura and Hikari trains, also covered by the Japan Rail Pass, take slightly longer, from 1.5 to 2.25 hours. A supplemental fee of approximately 4,170 yen is required for Nozomi/Mizuho trains with a JR Pass.
By Air:
Flights from Tokyo to Hiroshima Airport typically take around 80 minutes. Hiroshima Airport is located about 50 kilometers east of the city.
From Hiroshima Airport to Hiroshima Station, a limousine bus is available, taking about 45 to 55 minutes and costing approximately 1,450 yen.
By Highway Bus:
Overnight highway buses connect Tokyo to Hiroshima in roughly 12 hours, offering a budget-friendly option with fares around 6,500 yen on weekdays.
Buses from Osaka to Hiroshima generally take 5 to 6 hours.
By Ferry:
To Miyajima Island (Itsukushima Shrine): The JR Ferry from Miyajimaguchi Station takes about 10 minutes and costs around 180-200 yen, covered by the Japan Rail Pass. Direct ferries from Hiroshima Peace Park to Miyajima take approximately 40 minutes, with a return fare around 4,000 yen.
From Hiroshima Port, cruise ferries also connect to other destinations like Matsuyama, with a travel time of 2 hours and 40 minutes.
