Valladolid's primary transport hub is the ADO Bus Terminal, centrally located and easily accessible by foot. A Tren Maya station is also available, situated slightly outside the city center, requiring local transport to reach downtown.

From Cancun:

  • Bus (ADO):: Direct buses run hourly from Cancun's ADO bus station to Valladolid, taking approximately 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. Fares range from approximately $14 to $24 USD (250-550 MXN). There are no direct ADO buses from Cancun Airport to Valladolid; a transfer to the Cancun city center ADO bus station is required (approx. 45 minutes, 140 MXN or $7 USD by bus).
  • Train (Tren Maya):: Services run every 2-3 hours from Estación Tren Maya Cancun Aeropuerto, with a travel time of about 1 hour 32 minutes to 1.5 hours. Fares can range from $250-$1,300 MXN. A free shuttle connects Cancun Airport to the train station.
  • Private Transfer/Shuttle:: A direct option from Cancun Airport, typically taking 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours. Costs start from approximately $320-$391 USD per vehicle.
  • Car Rental:: Driving takes around 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours. Expect to pay tolls on the Carretera Federal 180.

From Merida:

  • Bus (ADO):: Frequent services depart from Merida's main ADO Centro bus station, with travel times between 2 hours 15 minutes and 2 hours 25 minutes. Fares are approximately $11.51-$17.60 USD (233-356 MXN).
  • Train (Tren Maya):: The train runs four times a day from Estación Tren Maya Mérida Teya, with a journey time of approximately 1 hour 50 minutes to 3 hours 5 minutes.
  • Private Transfer/Shuttle:: A direct service from Merida to Valladolid takes about 2 hours, with costs starting around $239 USD for a sedan.
  • Car Rental:: Driving from Merida to Valladolid takes approximately 1 hour 54 minutes to 2 hours 2 minutes, involving a toll road. Daily rental costs are around $20-$40 USD, including insurance.

Local Transport (to nearby attractions from Valladolid):

  • Colectivos:: Shared minivans are available to Chichen Itza, departing frequently (every half hour) from Calle 39 between streets 46 and 48. The journey takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour and costs 40 MXN pesos one-way.
  • Bus (ADO) to Chichen Itza:: A limited number of ADO buses operate daily from Valladolid to Chichen Itza, taking approximately 50 minutes and costing about 106-170 MXN pesos ($5-$10 USD).
  • Car/Scooter Rental:: Several local agencies in Valladolid offer car and scooter rentals, providing flexibility for exploring the area.
  • Taxis/Moto-taxis:: Taxis are available at the bus station for local travel, with rides within the city center costing around 40-50 MXN pesos ($2-$3 USD). Moto-taxis are also an option from the train station.
