Mérida is well-equipped with various transport hubs, including Manuel Crescencio Rejón International Airport (MID) for air travel, major bus stations like CAME and the 2nd Class Bus Station, and the recently established Tren Maya station in Teya.

By Air:

Manuel Crescencio Rejón International Airport (MID) serves Mérida and has regular flights, including to the USA. Round-trip flights from Miami have been found for as low as $172, with one-way options from $52. A non-stop flight from Miami can take approximately 2 hours 10 minutes. Upon arrival, taxis or shuttle buses offer convenient transfers to the city center, typically costing around Mex$200, or you can take an ADO bus directly from the airport.

By Bus:

ADO is a prominent and reliable bus company connecting Mérida to various cities like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Mexico City, Campeche, and Chetumal. The main bus terminal is CAME, located on Calle 70, with a second station on Calle 69 for regional routes. Buses generally offer comfortable, air-conditioned journeys with amenities like bathrooms and sometimes USB ports. A trip to Cancun can take around 4 hours and cost approximately 500 pesos. For enhanced comfort, ADO offers different classes, including Platino, which provides additional amenities such as snacks, coffee, and blankets. Tickets can be purchased at the stations or through the ADO app.

By Train:

The Tren Maya connects Mérida to destinations like Cancun, Campeche, Chichen Itza, and Izamal. The train station is situated in Teya, on the eastern outskirts of the city. To reach the Teya station from Mérida's city center, the IE Tram (electric bus) is available, costing about 45 pesos and taking approximately 40 minutes.

By Car Rental:

Renting a car provides flexibility for exploring the Yucatan Peninsula. Numerous international and local car rental companies operate in Mérida, with options found at the airport. Daily rental prices for a compact car can start from as low as $5. While driving to popular sites like Chichen Itza (around 2 hours) is generally straightforward, exercise caution on some roads, especially at night, as they can be unlit and single-lane. It is advisable to clarify insurance coverage as additional, potentially expensive, insurance might be required upon pick-up.
