The cost is approximately $46 MXN ($3-$4 USD), and the journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, sometimes up to 2 hours, due to frequent stops. Buses typically run every 20-30 minutes from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Official airport taxis are available, but generally cost more. A taxi to Sayulita can range from $50 to $80 USD (around $2,000 MXN) and takes about 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes.
Pre-booked private transfers are a convenient option, starting around $89 USD for a sedan (up to 3 people). Larger vehicles for up to 7 passengers can cost between $150 and $300 USD. These services offer direct pickup at the airport and a travel time of about 1 hour. Some services offer amenities like chilled drinks and a grocery stop.
Uber is available in Puerto Vallarta but cannot pick up directly inside the airport terminal. To meet your driver, you must cross the pedestrian bridge outside the airport. The cost for a one-way trip is typically around $55-$80 USD, with a travel time of approximately 1 hour. Note that arranging an Uber for a return trip from Sayulita can be challenging.
