Bulawayo is served by Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport and has several bus terminals, including the planned cross-border bus hub at the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) main station and the Egodini Mall Taxi Rank for local public transport.

By Air:

Bulawayo's Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport (BUQ) is approximately 25 km from the city center. Flights connect Bulawayo to Harare, Johannesburg, and Victoria Falls, with airlines like Fastjet, Airlink, and Air Zimbabwe operating these routes. One-way flights from Harare can start from around $115 to $122, with round-trip options typically ranging from $230 to $270.

By Bus:

Bus services are a common way to travel to and from Bulawayo. A journey from Johannesburg generally takes about 15 hours, with ticket prices starting from $29 to $56. From Cape Town, the bus ride can take approximately 1 day and 12 hours, with fares ranging from $57 to $84. Buses from Harare to Bulawayo typically take between 5 hours 30 minutes and 5 hours 45 minutes, with costs around $26 to $35. Within Bulawayo, public transport is mainly served by commuter omnibuses and ZUPCO buses, operating from designated termini like Egodini.

By Train:

While the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) lists intercity passenger train schedules connecting Bulawayo to Harare and Victoria Falls, recent observations from early 2025 indicate that passenger services have been suspended since the pandemic and the station appears largely disused. Therefore, regular passenger train travel may not be a viable option.

By Car Rental:

Car rental services are available at Bulawayo Airport and within the city, with companies such as Europcar, Budget, and Avis. Daily rental costs can vary, with an average of around $148 per day at the airport, and economy options starting from approximately $111 per day. Booking well in advance can lead to savings.
