Essaouira is served by Essaouira Mogador Airport (ESU) and features a main bus station conveniently located near the medina, along with another bus station further from the center.

Flights:

Essaouira Mogador Airport (ESU) has direct flights to several European cities including Paris (Orly and Beauvais), Marseille, Nantes, Bordeaux, Lyon, London Stansted, Düsseldorf (Weeze), Brussels Charleroi, Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville. There are also domestic flights to Rabat.

Buses (from Marrakech):

Supratours is a highly recommended bus company connecting Marrakech and Essaouira, with modern, air-conditioned buses. The journey typically takes 2.5 to 3 hours, including a short break. Tickets generally cost between 80-130 Moroccan Dirhams (MAD). Supratours buses depart multiple times a day from Marrakech (next to the train station) and arrive at a station near Essaouira's medina. CTM also operates this route, taking about 3 hours and costing around 90-100 MAD, though their Essaouira station is further from the medina. It is advisable to book bus tickets in advance, especially during peak seasons, and expect a small fee for checked luggage.

Grand Taxis (Shared Taxis from Marrakech):

Grand taxis are shared vehicles that can accommodate up to six passengers, offering a faster alternative to buses. The journey from Marrakech to Essaouira typically takes 2.5 to 3 hours. A shared seat costs approximately 100-150 MAD per person. Grand taxis depart from designated stands in Marrakech, such as near the main bus station, and can be found on the edge of Essaouira. You may need to wait until the taxi is full if you are sharing.

Private Transfers:

For maximum comfort and flexibility, private transfers are available from major cities like Marrakech, Casablanca, and Agadir directly to Essaouira. These door-to-door services are more expensive than buses or shared taxis but offer convenience, especially for groups or those with significant luggage.

Car Rental:

Renting a car provides the freedom to explore at your own pace. Rental agencies are available at Essaouira Mogador Airport and in major cities like Marrakech. The drive from Marrakech to Essaouira is about 175-200 kilometers and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours on well-maintained roads.
